New Work by Ada Pinkston
june 1-22, 2018
OPENING RECEPTION JUNE 1, 6-9 PM
Cardinal is proud to present Landmarked, a participatory exhibition of objects, prompts, and performances exploring historical landmarks and monuments, and their relationship to contemporary community.
For this exhibition, the main gallery of Cardinal will be filled with portraits of individuals who have participated in the struggle to liberate oppressed people in the United States of America. The images will be complemented by a soundscape including the words of those featured in the portraits as well as recorded, controversial conversations the artist has had with opponents of her work. The middle of the gallery will feature an empty pedestal where performances will take place throughout the exhibition, with a special night of guest performers on the evening of June 16.
Visitors will be invited to draw and write their responses to questions about monuments posed by the artist, which will become part of the overall exhibition.
